At this level, the alpha lobes of the mushroom bodies are (anterior=bottom) clearly visible surrounded by the neuropil of the medial protocerebrum and the lateral protocerebrum. The lateral horn can be seen just posterior with the dorsal surface of the mushroom body calyx at the posterior surface.
