Much of the central body complex is revealed here, from the ventral part of the fan shaped body to the ellipsoid body, lateral triangles and ventral body neuropils. Laterally the inferior medial and lateral protocerebra can be seen. The dorsal margin of the optic lobe is cut revealing from medial to lateral, the lobula, lobula plate, inner chiasma, medulla, outer chiasma and lamina.
Although not labeled, the beta/gamma lobes of the mushroom body lie just posterior to the ventral body in this section.
