Reconstructions of 3 optical sections through two serial sections, then montaged as a single view, showing the small dendrites of protocerebral bridge projection neurons. Lateral neurons have uncrossed axons that project straight to the fan- shaped body. More central neurons in the bridge send crossing axons to the central body. Protocerebral bridge projection neurons supply glomerular-like neuropils deep in the f.b. and then send their axons further into the paired noduli via a chaisma. A second class of protocerebral bridge neurons projects to the ellipsoid body.
