Ventromedial glomeruli of the labial nerve.

Ventromedial glomeruli of the labial nerve showing two distinct tributaries of the incoming sensory bundles.

Ventrolateral terminal glomeruli innervated by the labrofrontal nerves flanked (left) by dendrites of a palp motor neuron (moto n).

Terminals from the accessory pharyngeal nerve.

Profiles of interneurons associated with terminals of the pharyngeal nerve also showing heterolateral dendrites of a motor neuron supplying (destination unknown) proboscis muscles.

Composite from 15 optical sections showing stratified terminals of the labrofrontal nerve. The area labelled 1 is equivalent to the upper lateral area described by Shanbag and Singh (1992). The stratified neuropils (2), and their recurrent branches (3) are additional regions, hitherto undescribed.

Sagital section showing incoming axons from the labial nerve (labl n) surrounding an "empty" zone equivalent to the ventrolateral glomerulus. Dorsalmost sensory processes converge with antennal-mechanosensory axons originating from the antennal nerve (ant mech) and from ascending tracts of the ventral nerve cord (asc vnc).
