These two schematics show mushroom bodies viewed from above in horizontal sections (that is, reconstructed from a Z-series). Clicking on the arrowheads will take you to a variety of links pertaining to the mushroom bodies. There are three classes of links. One goes to histological material, such as Golgi, cobalt-silver, or reduced silver material. Others go to material revealed by genetic methods, such as enhancer trap, UAS-tau or MARCM technology. Others go to a related database that has mushroom body images from other insect taxa. The links are not in any order. It is intended that the serendipitous use of these links will educate the observer about these fascinating structures.
