The +X alpha lobe is clearly visble at this level, flanked laterally by the anterior optic tubercle, the most ventral optic focus of the visual system. Note also the thick commissure of axons linking the ventral bodies and running just above the pale bridge (consisting of heterolateral olfactory receptor axons) connecting the two antennal lobes.
