The large axons from the optic lobes, projecting obliquely towards the suboesophageal ganglion belong to horizontal motion sensitive neurons (HS) of the lobula plate. The posterior optic tract (p.op.t) lines the back of the dorso-lateral deutocerebrum. At this level, the dorsal fissure divides the two halves of the preoral brain leaving the postoral neuropil (su.oes.g) still very much in evidence. Again, many of its discrete neuropils are still un-named due to current ignorance about their cellular identities and connections.
