This level shows the last heterolateral connection between the left and right lobes of the su.oes.g. (caudal suboesophageal commissure: cau. su. oes. c). Beneath it are two very large diameter axons belonging to the pair of giant fibres. Above the commissure, at +/- X=3 are the pair of giant axons of descending neurons (DNOVS) that receive inputs from VS neurons and ocellar projection neurons.
