From front (+ y) towards the back (- y), lobulate neuropils of the
-lobes
lie in front of (ventral to, according to the neuraxis) beta -lobe neuropil,
followed by the ellipsoid body (e. b) and then the paired noduli (no) of
the central body complex lie under the fan-shaped body (next + z sections).
The mushroom body's
- and
beta-lobes are partly obscured by the fascicle of
fibres that extends from the inferior medial protocerebral lobes (i. m. pr)
towards the back of the brain. The posterior optic tract (p. op. t) lies
lateral and caudal to the lobula (lo) from which arise tract (lo. t) of
efferents destined for the lateral deutocerebrum.
The lobula is shown with more bundles of efferent axons targeting the lateral deutocerebral neuropils (l. deut). This level also shows the passage of heterolateral commissures (het. c) which link the left and right lateral deutocerebra and which carry many visual interneurons between these areas.
