Cross sections of axons leading from the protocerebral bridge to the fan-shaped (ax. prbr-fb) and ellipsoid bodies can be seen at the mid-line, just beneath the ocellar nerve (ocl. n). Either side of them, the buttresses of the protocerebral bridge (bu. prbr) receive axons of the protocerebral bridge-superior medial protocerebral tract (prbr. s. m. pr. t). The commissure of the lateral horn passes just beneath the pedunculi of the mushroom bodies (mb. ped) and the lateral horn is loosely connected to more ventral parts of the superior protocerebrum by the lateral fascicle (l. fasc. s. pr). At this level, the main (inner) strand of the antenno-glomerular tract is now displaced somewhat laterally and in the next two sections along the +z axis, it will spread completely laterally into the calyces.
