Horizontal Silver Sections

This page contains links to twenty-six representative horizontal head sections stained by the reduced silver (Bodian) method. Section 1 is the most ventral section of the suboesophageal ganglia and section 22 is the uppermost section of the supraoesophageal ganglia. However, because the neuraxis of the nervous system bends upwards, section 22 actually represents the most anterior slice across the neuraxis.
