The lateral deutocerebrum, which is the target of many lobula output bundles (lo bdl) is connected to dorsal protocerebral neuropils by the posterior lateral fascicle (p l fasc). This reaches the superior lateral protocerebrum, just lateral to, and beneath the calyces (ca). The lobula neuropil is first clearly visible at this level of sagittal sections.
