The thoracic NB 1-1 gives rise to a cluster of 8-14 cells including ipsilaterally projecting interneurons (1-1I) and 1 to 2 motoneurons (1-1Ms) and the identified "corner cells", aCC and pCC, the first progeny of NB 1-1. With the exception of the aCC/pCC neurons the clone is located in the ventrolateral cortex. The aCC motoneuron innervates dorsal muscles (Sink and Whitington, 1991) . The thoracic 1-1Ms axons terminate among ventrolateral muscles without a detectable endplate. The pCC interneuron forms an ipsilateral anterior projection.
