The abdominal NB 2-2 lineage differs from the thoracic lineage by the absence of the glial cell. Additionally the interneuronal fascicle (2-2I) is more prominent and turns anterior after reaching the contralateral connective; also small ipsilateral processes are detectable. Often two cells are separated dorsomedially from the main cluster. However, neuronal cell numbers are identical in thorax and abdomen: two to three motoneurons (2-2M), that project through the segmental nerve whith endplates at the ventral to ventrolateral muscle group (most likely at muscles VO1, VO2 and LO1; nomenclature according to Bate, 1993) and about ten interneurons (2-2I) in the ventral cortex.
