The clone consists of 10 to 13 interneurons in the ventrolateral cortex, projecting ipsilaterally and contralaterally across the anterior commissure. The lineage includes the lateral cluster of even-skipped expressing neurons (EL). Although the number of cells in thoracic and abdominal clones is equal, the EL cluster is smaller in thoracic segments (approx. 5 cells) than in abdominal ones (approx. 9 cells).
