NB 5-3 gives rise to a lineage of 9 to 15 cells with interneuronal and motoneural projections. The medialmost cells often located close to the outer border of the connective develop axons across the anterior commissure (5-3Ica). The remaining neurons are located in the lateral cortex and send fibres through the posterior commissure (5-3Icp) and a motoprojection, that leaves the VNC through the segmental nerve. Endplates have not been detected.
