The axons enter the neuropil at the periphery of the ring and demarcate its perimeter. The cell bodies (cb) are located on the anterior surface of the brain (out of focus); the processes arborize in the ltr and before reaching the eb. These stained neurons represent only a portion of all R4 type neurons (see text). Scale bar = 20 µm.
