The adult phenotype of the first optic chiasm of UB883 mutants: The composite of camera lucida drawings of Golgi impregnated neurons shows that fibers exiting the posterior lamina project in an irregular manner via the second optic chiasm into the anterior medulla (arrow). Ectopic bundles contain axons derived from the retina and the lamina (Boschert et al., 1990). L1-L5, lamina monopolar neurons 1-5. R7, axon of retinula cell 7.
Compare with the wild type situation (Fischbach and Dittrich, 1989).
